Evelyn's Story
As she looks around, Sunrise is inspired by the incredible potential of our city, but she's also acutely aware of the pressing needs that must be addressed. Families feel unheard, seniors often feel excluded from important discussions, and young people are desperately seeking opportunities and guidance. Her faith reminds her that together, we have the power to face these challenges head-on and build a brighter future for all.
She is convinced that we can achieve so much more together.

Before transitioning to bookkeeping, Evelyn spent over 20 years in the insurance industry in New York, where she excelled as a licensed agent and office manager for one of the state’s top insurance companies. During this time, she honed skills critical to both business and public service:

- Passionate Community Leader: With over 8 years of experience as a Little League coach, I have dedicated myself to mentoring and uplifting at-risk youth through sports, fostering teamwork, discipline, and self-confidence.
- Organizer with STVSOC (Stop the Violence, Save Our Children): Actively involved in community initiatives to promote safety and positive opportunities for children, working to create a brighter future through advocacy and engagement.
- Dance Enthusiast: Committed to empowering youth through the transformative power of dance, using movement as a tool for self-expression, resilience, and unity.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and lead dance practices for the Spirits N Motion dance team, focusing on at-risk youth to provide a safe, creative outlet.
- Develop choreography that inspires and engages team members, promoting confidence and collaboration.
- Organize performances and community events to showcase the team’s talent and strengthen community ties.
- Mentor dancers, fostering personal growth, discipline, and a sense of belonging.
- Collaborate with STVSOC and other local organizations to align dance initiatives with broader community goals.
